Is it possible to obtain replacement tracks for the rusted sink clips, or is the sink salvageable with its current condition post-installation?

I’m reinstalling my sink after getting a new countertop put in. The tracks for the sink clips are pretty rusty. Some sections are still sturdy, but others are corroded and not holding up well. I believe I have enough spots to securely bolt down the sink, but I’m wondering if it’s possible to get replacement tracks for it. Any ideas on where to find them? Thanks.
To keep the sink in place, you can use caulking and apply weight to secure it while it dries.
Thanks !
Welcome! 🙂
Hey , that’s a great idea! It seems like it’ll definitely work. I’ll be sure to keep that in mind.
Apply silicone underneath the rim.
Sure, you can find them at Lowe’s or Home Depot. Make sure to thoroughly clean it, apply a generous amount of silicone, and use a clamp.
There’s a special screwdriver called an Elkay wrench that is designed for collard fittings, like the ones on Elkay sinks. You can find the clips for it at Ferguson.
Is the sink stainless steel? If so, and the countertop is not Formica, you should use plumbers putty instead of silicone. Silicone is best reserved for creating a gasket for non-threaded parts, like the oil pan of your car. The excess plumbers putty will easily squish out and be simpler to scrape off completely if the gap needs to be repacked or starts leaking.
After thinking about it some more, I realized that if the stainless steel in the sink is rusted, it’s better to replace it now instead of having to redo the counter sooner just because you wanted to save money.
