In the UK, it’s totally legal to have separate hot and cold water valves. Also, about the hand dryer in the picture, it seems to be placed at a safe height and distance. You may want to check the local regulations in the UK by giving them a quick call.
Well, let me start by saying that’s not what you’re seeing here, and secondly, being foolish is not tolerated in this place. If you end up burning yourself while running the hot water tap, that’s entirely your fault, my friend. The indicator clearly warns that it’s hot.
It’s actually a double sink, buddy. There are no separate hot/cold water valves there.

Since it’s a touchless one, I think it should be fine.

There isn’t anything specific in BS7671 that prohibits it. I don’t think there’s even anything remotely related. It should be safe… until it’s not. Like everything else, right? It might be better to have a higher IP rating considering how close it is. Also, it does give off a bad impression and can lead to confusion about special locations. In the UK, a bathroom is only considered special if it has a bath or shower, and even then, only in certain areas of the room. Building regulations are a bit different, so there may or may not be specific rules there. And let’s not forget about the Electricity at Work Act and its reasonable steps test. Based on my training, I would recommend mounting it at least 60cm away from the basin or using an IPX4 rated appliance. Can’t exactly pinpoint where this recommendation comes from… probably from manufacturers’ summaries of relevant rules that were taught to me. It would take quite a bit of reading to find the exact references without a starting point. Better to err on the side of caution and look for a different location if not using an appliance specifically designed for water proximity.

And what about having a socket near the kitchen sink?

I’m more worried about the feces left in the sink. That’s just savage!
