Hey everyone, seeking some guidance here. We were working on installing the shower drain connected to the rough-in plumbing provided by the builder, and we discovered some standing water around the area when we started digging up the gravel. The drain seems to be properly sealed and not leaking. Given the recent heavy rainfall, is it common to have standing water in the ground like this, or is there reason to be worried?
Is it normal for you to have a sump pump? I have two in chambers to prevent water from rising into my property.
Yes?
You might want to think about getting a battery backup in case of a power outage!
No?
You should definitely be worried!
Is that a basement in the picture, ?
It might be due to back pressure seepage, but as long as there’s a natural drainage system in place, you should be fine. I don’t think there’s any cause for alarm.
Hey there! I’m a professional plumber available to help with any questions you may have. It’s totally normal for basements to vary in the amount of groundwater under the slab. No need to stress about it.
Do you have a sump crock and perimeter drain tile? It’s normal to have a clean stone base under your floor for drainage purposes.
Your concrete patch might be leaking. You might want to think about getting a sump pump.
