I have to mention the fact that I strongly disagree with your decision.
If you’re investing in a $2.5m home and opting for plain toggles, that doesn’t seem right.
The only difference is they’re 90 degrees off.
That’s the right way to do it. My company and employees have been doing it that way for over 46 years, plus the years I was in business before that. It’s just a personal preference, not necessarily right or wrong!
Absolutely incorrect. If I were the inspector, it would definitely be a failed inspection.
Hey , haha, even though I also do vertical stuff…can you show me the code rule for that?
Has a habit of gathering dust while lying flat…
Haha yeah, I feel like dust doesn’t care which way the screw is set. You’re going to get dust either way…
Sounds like residential work. Commercial electricians tend to do it vertically.
And water
My company mainly focused on commercial projects of all sizes. Again, there’s no definitive right or wrong!
Absolutely disagree. All my inspectors throughout the state have approved my projects. Never had a red tag! The NEC doesn’t support the conclusion you’re making.
I might have gone with Decora instead. Have you thought about putting your plate screws vertically?
Incorrect
For a 2.5 million dollar property, consider using screwless plates and Decora switches.
Right?
We will include whatever the customer requests.
They’re only straight vertical when they’re in the incorrect orientation.
If you’re concerned with screw alignment, you might be missing the point of what’s truly important. I personally have never worried about it, and my projects still function properly years down the line.
Oh yeah, I’ve definitely noticed that too. Those same guys who worry about that stuff can’t even wire a motor starter or figure out a box fill calculation.
The guys who actually care, like Ken roat, know how to wire a motor starter properly and ensure a clean finish. They take pride in their work and pay attention to detail, unlike those who don’t care and just want it to function. It’s not only about getting it done correctly, but also about doing it with quality.
Screws don’t make the final product any better. uys will put them in place and end up with a cracked plate. Just like that guy using the cheap device and stressing over the screw.
Not everyone can handle pressure while still maintaining high standards in their work.
I disagree… that guy will betray you… by using x outside and not tightening all his screws.
Well, every wireman is unique so it’s best not to assume that everyone works the same way.
‘t make assumptions about . And if you’re stressing about screw alignment, you might want to reconsider what’s truly important.
Once again, that is not accurate.
You don’t have to agree with something for it to be completely true. No matter what the brotherhood has manipulated you to think.
Hey, it’s !
Ken roat mentioned that doing box fill calculations in residential settings is no longer necessary. If you check the inside back of nail-on boxes, they indicate how many current-carrying conductors are permitted based on the AW.
It’s great to have both knowledge and skills, not just one or the other. It’s cool to create something that lasts, but if it looks terrible, what’s the point?
So, , your work is like a Twinkie? Still around years later, even though it’s not the best quality.
It’s better to have it vertical, horizontal just doesn’t look good
It appears unappealing 💩
Horizontal looks terrible, it’s like all the screws are pointing in different directions
This entire page has gotten messy. 🤦🏼♂️
#thanksihateit as long as they are all horizontal… you know what. Okay. But seriously they need to be vertical.
Vertical!
As long as they match, I personally prefer them to be horizontal. It just looks better in my opinion.
They should be standing upright, you know!
Please refrain from doing that, it looks terrible and attracts dust
Hey, buddy, have you considered going vertical?
You know, I don’t think that’s OCD, just a preference.
I prefer doing them in a vertical way

I just wanted to express my gratitude to the person who guided me from nothing to success. I feel privileged to be part of your winning team and will always be thankful for the opportunity to work with you.👇👇
Mr Mambafx Alvarenga
It’s pretty clear that this person isn’t actually an Electrician. We all know the correct way for the screw to go.
Do you still live in the 70s? Your outlets and switches always look identical, whether it’s a 2.5M house or a 10k house. In Europe, we have a variety of options to choose from.
Vertical all the way!!!!
Always looks terrible when it’s horizontal.
I make it a point to do that for every project!
Seriously, Vertical, Vertical.😂
Hey ya goof
Hey bro, if it’s 2.5, shouldn’t there be some decor devices around here?
Absolutely not!!!! Souls should be facing the other way!!!!
🤢
Most people do it that way and it looks terrible when it’s horizontal, it looks much nicer when it’s vertical to fit the device.
I always make sure to do that, just to check if anyone has messed around with what I did
Make sure the screws are vertically slit
Painters usually remove it and then don’t bother aligning the screws again, right?
Vertical, don’t be horizontal you goofball.
I am done with you officially, the slots are completely WRON!!! 😑 😂
Everything needs to be flawless, but couldn’t you adjust the handy box to hide the eyesore left by the rock guys?
Come on, be vertical, you wild animal.
They need to be perpendicular, don’t you think?
Why wouldn’t they use screwless cover plates or Lutron switches in a 2.5 million dollar house? 🤔
Whether it’s horizontal or vertical, the important thing is how much you bend the plate!
Mmm
Unsuccessful
Incorrect. Vertically
I totally understand where you’re coming from, why go for spec grade on a 2.5 million dollar house?
My boss was really insistent on everything being vertical rather than horizontal.
