How should the two live, two neutral, and two earth wires from the supply line be connected to the ceiling fan’s one live, one neutral, and one earth wires?

I’m in the middle of installing a new ceiling fan and I’ve run into a bit of a snag. The supply has two live wires, two neutral wires, and two earth wires. Would anyone happen to know how I should connect the two supply wires of each type to the fan’s single live, neutral, and earth wires?

Why not consider hiring an electrician? It could end up saving your life.

Emma Frazier

It’s a system that loops around and controls two points

Robin Holland

What on earth is happening here?

James Tremblay

If I were you, I’d walk away from that box… and keep walking…

Frances Hicks

It’s probably a good idea to hire an electrician. It’s much cheaper than dealing with hospital bills, a burnt down house, or worse.

Todd Torres

You might want to check the other wires meant for the lights…

Gene Bennett

You don’t need a junction box, just use a longer screw to attach it and go through the roof to support it.

Mathis Wilson

This is for the fan that has lights, so there are two separate power sources

Emily Taylor

For real.

Glen Watson

You should definitely consult an electrician

Tracey Owens

You’re treading into risky territory by messing with this.

Buse Ayaydın

Maybe it’s time to call an electrician since it seems like this is not your area of expertise.

Paula Carroll

One fan and one light kit, most likely. It’s best to hire a professional electrician to avoid any issues.

Anthony Lavoie

Do you remember how it was wired before you dismantled it? The ceiling might not be able to handle a fan.

Leroy Rogers

Why do folks disconnect all the connections when swapping out lights and fans?

Sofia Jennings

Rab a hot wire for the light and another for the motor, then connect the other one and add a tie or something

What the heck is happening there? lol

Amanda Arce

For the fan and light, it’s best to get an electrician involved so you don’t mess it up.

Martha Henry

Listen up. You’re a bit lost on what to do. Right now, you should find a reliable electrician who can follow those wires, reconnect them properly, AND switch out that flimsy box for a sturdy fan box. Ignoring this could lead to electric shock, fire, or even the fan falling. Is it worth risking all that to save a few bucks?

Noémie Young

I can fix it for just $540! Such a steal!

Gabino Guzmán

Could it be the junction box?

Aida Uribe

Seems like one wire is for the fan and another for the light, but also appears to be connected to another fan from the same switch.

Blake Gonzales

What’s happening here?

Miguel Ángel Armas

Simply referring to them as “earths” indicates that you may not be familiar with what you’re doing, so it’s best to contact a licensed electrician.

Kristin Holt

Just let the professionals handle it

Marco Antonio Lucero

It’s best to leave electrical work to the professionals.

Kristin Holt

Operated by two 3-way switches

Isabella Herrera

Combine the red, the black, and the green together.

Wilma Ferguson

Sure, hi there! Calling an electrician would be the easiest solution for me, but if you have no experience with it, you might run into trouble.

Claude Tucker

I think you might have two power sources coming from two different switches. In the past, this was how it was done before the introduction of two and three-way switches. You might want to locate these two control switches and deactivate one of them. If that doesn’t work, try choosing one hot wire, one neutral wire, and one ground wire to test the setup before installing the fan.
