Usually, they use a rubber boot along with some sealant.

Here’s a better question – how can you remove a vent from a metal roof? Haha

Shylaja Kumari

When you have a lot of random vents and a lower pitch on a metal roof, it could lead to leaks.

Timmothy Watts

Make sure you grab the proper vent and install it correctly. And consider spending around $50 to buy the appropriate sealant from the metal supply store.

Really….they are fantastic.

The roof jacks in the picture are meant for composite roofs, not metal ones. Just make sure the hole you make is the right size for your project and use NP 1.

Are you trying to fix a leak in an existing roof vent or are you looking to install a new one?

Just follow the recommendations of the metal roof manufacturer. A lot of metal roofs had to be taken off 20 years ago when they first became popular because builders mistakenly thought they could be installed on low slope roofs with regular roof felt. That’s incorrect.

Auguste Brun

Follow the recommendations of the metal roof manufacturer. Just like what goes under the metal. Many metal roofs had to be taken off twenty years ago when the trend started because builders believed they could install them on low slope roofs with standard roof felt. They were mistaken.

The method of under/over. The under panel should extend at least 18 inches past the vent at the bottom. Position the vent. The over panel should come down from a foot below the vent to the top. Apply sealant between the panel and vent. Apply sealant between the vent and panel.
