How should I install these wooden handrails with precut inserts on my deck railing to avoid visible screws?

I got these wooden handrails to put on my deck, but I’m a bit confused about how to install them.

There’s a precut insert that comes with them.

I was thinking, instead of having to screw the handrails onto the guard rail and having the screws show, I could nail through the insert from underneath (using purple nails), then screw the insert onto the guard rail (using blue screws), and finally hammer the handrail onto the insert, maybe even adding some wood glue for extra hold.

Does that plan make sense to you? I couldn’t find any info online about how to use these inserts.
