So, here’s the deal: not a project I’d recommend taking on at home, but more of an unfortunate situation. Any tips on removing dried latex paint from clothing? 🤦🤦
Those are the clothes you wear when you paint…hahahaga
You really don’t have to.
After placing them in a plastic bag, take them outside and dispose of them in the garbage. Then treat yourself to some new clothes 🙂
I’ve had good results using rubbing alcohol. Just remember to test a small area first.
Those clothes are now designated as your painting attire.
I tried using nail polish remover with acetone and it actually does the trick.
You might want to consider trying finger nail polish remover along with a scrub pad.
Avoid painting while wearing your nice clothes.
I’m thinking of using paint thinner (letting it sit for a while on the area) and then scrubbing with some acetone.
Once it’s on, there’s no going back, but it’s a lesson learned to save your ‘good’ clothes for painting next time. 😂😂
Oh, why not just embrace it as a badge of honor?
Mentioned that he does
Bleach might be able to remove it
You can use either Goo Gone or Goof Off.
After getting wet, you can simply rinse it off. Or if you prefer, it’s even easier to just dry them and buy new clothes with your credit card. After all, you were painting in these clothes and they were already worn out.
You don’t need to worry about that. Consider those your designated paint clothes from now on.
No changes needed
Yep, ! I always have my designated ‘paint/epoxy/polyurethane clothing’!
I have a whole collection of them, 🤣
Lestoil is effective
Goo gone
Quit being silly. Avoid painting your clothes! IT’S POSSIBLE. Maybe just stick to wearing work clothes for painting from now on.
A little prevention is better than a lot of fixing. Prevention like wearing Dickie’s painters pants. Durable cotton material, more affordable than a nice pair of jeans, and you don’t have to worry about getting paint on them. Also, when you go into the hardware store or paint store wearing them with old paint stains, we can tell you’re one of us =)
Take the shirt, lay it out on the floor or table, roll it up, and simply toss it in the trash
Has the perfect answer
This painting shirt holds up better than a lot of store-bought decals these days. Looks like you’ve found your go-to painting shirt!
My painting pants are older than my kids (my youngest is 15) and they’ve been washed countless times. My husband jokingly calls them my Pollock pants, inspired by the artist.

Rubbing alcohol
I managed to get latex off jeans before by using Krud Kutter, but it required soaking in scalding hot water and leaving the cleaner on overnight while sealed in a bag. These were my favorite jeans that I accidentally brushed up against wet paint in. It took multiple applications and washings, but it eventually came out. If it’s clothing you’re not too attached to, just go with the flow and make them your dedicated painting outfit.
You know what? Those are officially your painting clothes now 😂
You can just use Goof off to get rid of it!
Sandpaper
Is it really bad? If it’s deeply embedded, it’s going to be super hard to remove. But if it’s just on the surface, I’ve been able to scrape it off using a sharp knife.
You could experiment with mixing baking soda in hot water and soaking the clothing in the solution.
Give them a quick wash or just let it go!
You can either toss them out or save them for the next time you paint!
Exciting news about your new job attire!
Warm water and soap works best if done promptly. There are many other helpful tips in this thread.
