How do all the pieces in the broken door jam fit together so securely?

Hey, so I had a broken door jam situation… I bought the trim, both the flat piece and jam piece…
But when I took the pieces off mine, there was no glue or anything holding them together, just nails…
What’s the deal with that?
I’ve come across that a few times in my projects. The trim is the only thing keeping the door in position.
Hey, listen… I’m definitely not losing it. What do you think should be back there? A 2×4 seems too big
Hey , you could try using a strip(s) of plywood to fill the space or some shims. Have you ever tried installing doors before?
Hey , no worries, I may not know everything but I’m not dumb. I simply realized that a door needs more than just trim to hold it in place. I’ll grab some shims tomorrow to make sure it’s secure.
Hey , no offense meant but I recommend taking off the trim on the hinge side. If you need help, don’t hesitate to ask someone. Make sure the Jam is level in both directions. Use shims near the hinges and nail through them. After that, focus on the strike side. Ensure the gap around the door is consistent and the door hits the stop at the top and bottom. Insert shims where needed to maintain a uniform gap and then nail through the shims. Remember to double-check that the door latches. Finally, trim off the shims at the jam and finish it off.
I have no clue what this picture is showing.
Is that a two-piece jamb with an extension?
I’m a bit confused by what I see. It’s too close up. I need a broader view. Zoom out.
Could you share a photo from a wider angle, please? So, you’re telling me the jamb wasn’t attached to anything?
