How did your laundry room project turn into a complete renovation of the half bath, and how do you feel now that it’s finally finished before the holiday season?

So, the laundry room project ended up expanding to the half bath too. When I ripped up the old tile floor, I discovered that the closet flange seal was leaking and had caused some damage to the subfloor. After fixing that, I thought it would be nice to add a faux brick corner for some extra character in the small space. I also switched out the overhead light for two sconces on either side of the mirror. Then I put in new flooring, a one piece toilet, and a vanity. It took a few weeks, but I finally got everything finished. I’m really happy to have it all done before the Holiday season kicks in.

So cool! The brick wall is just awesome!

I appreciate all the help. I used scored painters tape and drywall mud to easily create the brick look. I think it adds a nice touch.

Wait, how did you manage to capture the shadows and texture?

Timoteo Vela

I actually learned some magic tricks from this video 😉

Looks amazing! We had a similar experience a couple of years back, discovered the floor under the toilet was rotted out just like yours. It was a huge project.

Timoteo Vela

I was kind of expecting the floor to be rotted, but wasn’t sure to what extent. Luckily, it didn’t affect the walls.

The living room had a small issue that turned into a much bigger problem. We had to replace the sub floors because the cross beams were broken and the floors were rotting due to the South Louisiana floods.

Timoteo Vela

Wow, that sounds like quite the ordeal!
