How did you transform your kitchen with DIY work and custom finishes, including butcher block counters with a unique stain?

Hey, check out this before and after of our kitchen! My husband, our youngest kiddo, and I did all the work ourselves (except for the gas conversion). We stripped and repainted the cabinetry, repainted the wainscoting, fixed up any wood that was in bad shape, painted the original fir floor, and replaced all the counters, backsplash, appliances, sink, faucet, and disposal. The butcher block counters were stained with a custom opaque stain that I kinda came up with, sealed with oil-based polyurethane, and finished with a glass coat of poly/mineral spirits applied with lambswool. We let the counters cure completely before installing them.
Any updates on the appliances? If not, how did you manage to get the stainless steel look on the dishwasher?
Danielle yeah, these appliances are brand new. I heard you can purchase brushed stainless vinyl wrap specifically made for dishwashers.
That gas range is fantastic! Did you hire a contractor to switch from electric to gas?
JC for sure, that’s exactly what we did. There was already a pipe that wasn’t working, so fixing it was simple and budget-friendly, but we didn’t want to risk doing it ourselves.
Great work! It must feel amazing to admire the finished product.
