How did you manage to preserve and maintain the original structure and design of the house built by your step grandparents in 1953 while adding your own touch to it over the past 13 years?

So, my step-grandparents actually built this house on our family farm back in 1953. Fast forward to 1973, they decided to add an extension to the back – which is where these photos were taken. It’s pretty cool to see that everything you see in the old photos was still there when we moved in 13 years ago. And to top it off, we’ve managed to do about 99% of the work ourselves in keeping it up all these years.
Looks stunning!

Excellent work!
Eorgia Joiner-Johnson, I appreciate it! 😊
Looks fantastic! Was it difficult or costly to fill in the door? I’m thinking of doing the same at our place.
Thanks for the help! It wasn’t too difficult, just a bit complex with different layers like exterior, insulation, framing, drywall, mud, sanding, priming, and painting. Can’t quite recall the total cost though.
Wow, framing those before and after pictures is a great idea. It turned out really nice.
Thank you for everything! 😊
Impressive work, you guys. The transformation is truly remarkable!
