How did you create the new finish on your fireplace and what materials did you use?

Just updated the fireplace with a fresh new look!
Tried my hand at making my own roman clay for the first time.
The light gray was a pricey pre-mixed Venetian plaster, while the darker shade was a mix of joint compound and paint (SW Carbonized in a matte finish).
Surprisingly affordable and easy to apply with a putty knife. 🥰
Looks good. Did you shut the window from the outside?
No, I want to keep access to the outlets if needed.
