How did operators in 1959 navigate the high leg when handling loads in the new panel to avoid damaging the electrical circuits?

Switching gear from 1959 can be a bit tricky. You have to be cautious when placing the loads in the new panel, especially with the high leg. You definitely don’t want to risk overheating the 120 v circuits in the receptacles, ovens, or A/C condensing unit internal circuits.
