How did completing your daughter’s bedroom, known as The Purple Room, improve your DIY skills and project planning?
I just have to share a little accomplishment! The Purple Room, aka my daughter’s bedroom, is finally finished. It’s been a work in progress for the last 4-5 months, and let me tell you, as a newbie to this whole DIY thing, it took a whole lot longer than I expected (like, at least 150+ hours). We still have a few things left to do – like the ceiling fan, windows, blinds (yikes, those are pricey!), door, and closet – but we’ll get there eventually.
The purple color we chose for the walls is even more magical in person than any picture can capture. When the sunlight hits it just right, it’s like a dream. The best part of this whole project was adding tall baseboards, window casing, and door casing. We had a blast picking out the designs from the lumberyard’s book.
I’ve discovered a newfound love for working with my hands through this whole process. I’ve learned so much, especially about drywall. Next time, I’ll definitely use actual mud for smoother coats. It’s amazing to see how far I’ve come since starting this project. And let’s not forget about all the new tools and saws we bought
The detailed progress in the captions is so enjoyable to see! It looks fantastic.
Thanks! I don’t plan on documenting every project in such detail, but it was a blast to keep track of the progress. Buying new tools is still more fun though, haha.
Buying new tools is always an exciting experience 😅 My husband and I often wish we had documented more things, so I encourage you to keep it up whenever you can!
I really enjoyed this project. The best part for me was seeing the smiles, as that’s what DIY is all about.
