How could the first-year commercial apprentice have improved their performance in their second year?

You could have joined my team at work, just kidding it looks fantastic
Opt for 45s and 90s instead of bending them
It’s clear that you don’t need to install your own conduits
Simply admit that you lack the ability to bend conduit
I have experience running 4” rigid for data. Please don’t criticize me for not using 45&90. I used them on some occasions, so why not maintain consistency. Choose one method, not both
Philip erner has never attempted to pull a conduit before
😂
Prefers using 30s and 22s instead of 45s, and bending the conduit does improve its appearance in my opinion, fewer couplings
You seem to be struggling a bit, but don’t worry, keep practicing and you’ll improve.
Deception
Make sure to do your job – sweep the floor and take out the trash
Electrician job description does not include that, sorry
Isaac arcia’s role as a helper
No assistance? You’re the one lending a hand 😂
Is here to share this.
Totally agree! 😂
That’s not cool.. haha
Absolutely true Zac!!
This group is awesome haha
Are you the type to contact HR when you’re upset at work? 😂
Oh, so you’re the assistant?
Is definitely a pro at handling HR calls.
If only they had provided you with a bender for that larger conduit.
Was there but didn’t 🙄
Compression fittings seem more professional to me than set screw couplings
So, one is around 55 bucks and the other is only 7 bucks.
Didn’t mention that one was more affordable, just that one seemed to be of better quality. Not sure where you get your supplies from, but I can usually find a box of 50 1/2″ for about $40.
The price really changes a lot when you switch from a 1/2″ pipe to a 3-4″ one, huh?
Hey Jesse, not sure where you’re finding a 1/2″ pipe, but you won’t find a compression coupling that fits those prefabs for around 40 bucks. Just a heads up, you’ll pick up more tips as you go through your apprenticeship.
Half-inch emt is really not a good professional look. There’s absolutely no space for expansion.
Juan onzalez for real, I thought it was all the same price 💀 it was just an example, even someone like you should know the bigger it is, the more it costs
Dude, stop. You’re lonely and look like a pedo in your profile pic. et off social media and go find your next target
Pedo? Clearly uninformed…. 🖕🏼
You’re buddies with Biden, huh? 😂😂
Man, that compression is just terrible 😂
Relies on whether they are from China or Vietnam
Boy? Based on how you talk, you must be friends with Hunter… MAA! Trump 24!…🖕🏼
Hey there, who is this Hunter guy?
Hey, pay attention to your friend Biden’s son…🖕🏼
Hey old man, don’t you have a prostate exam coming up?
Uh-uh, not old, just well-educated…🖕🏼
Hey there, good luck with that exam buddy
‘s use of 1/2″ makes me question almost everything he comments on.
Mentions that all the supply houses near him carry Southwire products, which he suspects are from China. However, he hasn’t come across a good batch yet.
Believes compression fittings are subpar. That’s why pulling a ground is necessary with compression fittings.
In this scenario, I would have hung a trapeze on both sides of the offsets.
I doubt anyone runs 1/2” pipe, you probably buy 3 1/2” feeder pipe as well. Set screw is fine for indoor and dry conditions. Personally, I think it looks better. Your comment is a statement and reflects your opinion. Compression fittings won’t necessarily enhance the quality of this installation.
Seems to be more of a worker than a company owner.
Guy harrelson yes, it’s better for wire pull
Hey Jesse, I personally prefer to solder/weld/grind, even though it may take an extra 10 minutes per joint. This way, I avoid using couplings!
Sorry bro, it wasn’t my decision – I just work with what I’m given 😭
Bend without using all those couplings.
It’s pre-made
Tidy up after you.
I really don’t like those small 3 or 4″ pieces. If your measurements aren’t perfect yet on bends, try making them a little longer and trim off a bit instead of ending up short and using 3″ pieces. Just my OCD opinion, but it still looks pretty good!👍
Might be pre-made curves
Now that you mention it, looks like there’s no comment in that section lol
I was actually thinking the same thing. I really dislike when pieces don’t line up properly. I might have to get longer sticks to make it work. With time and experience, it’ll get better. Having someone more experienced would have been useful during the layout.
Yeah, all prefabs. I know, it doesn’t look great
I’m not sure about putting all that weight on the beam clamps…
Approves of beam clamps. Fender washers are not recommended.
Yeah, you’re correct! You probably just need to hang the brackets, that’s all
I only get to hold the jm ladder, not much else.
You could have saved a lot of money by removing all the couplings, but maybe you’re not sure how to bend pipe yet. ood effort!
Pre-fabricated bent pipe
🤷🏾♂️ Trim the all thread on the strut racks
Oops forgot to do that before taking the pic
Hey, that’s a nice start but this is just basic work, anyone can install conduit. If you need help, ask about pipe fill or circuit calculations.
The Son of od
Awesome job, man! 👊
I heard you didn’t get a bender for the larger pipe. Is that true?
That’s exactly what I mean – it’s one or the other.
Wow Jim. Running a “SMALL” shop is tough, some weeks it’s almost impossible to make payroll. Maybe in the near future, we’ll get a bender.
If you can’t do the work, don’t bid on it.
😆😆😆
Hey, remember those 90’s factory and offsets? I wouldn’t mind sharing pics buddy
Haha that’s great, we bent everything in the shop that we could. They only gave me prefabs for the bigger pipes that needed a table bender, buddy.
Isaac arcia Oh yeah, prefab is the worst.
This is beautiful
You know, some people will never be satisfied. I’m curious to see your skills at this level.
Ene Proko in Vermont can’t work on that job without a license
Nowhere does it imply that the work was not done by an unlicensed contractor. And with an installation like that, you can be sure there are all kinds of permits and inspections.
I misunderstood – I thought you said you didn’t have any help in Vermont, as you needed someone nearby with a license.
Ene Proko has a lot of comment pros haha.
I understand that there’s a lot of negativity, but do you really believe that a second-year apprentice could have done this on their own? Sometimes I just have to question people, you know?
It’s possible that had some experience with pipes before.
Exactly, there’s no way a contractor would let a 2 year apprentice handle this job. And doing it alone at that height? I don’t buy it.
Call it what you want, haha. If you’re a quick learner, a year is plenty of time to learn. I appreciate the comments though, love seeing you all doubting I didn’t do it myself.
I’ve always wondered, why doesn’t your group ever use trunking?
Can you believe that nonsense?

Why not share your own work?
Hey man, you’ve been doing a good job, just make sure everything looks consistent – like if you use an offset with a coupling in the middle, do the same for all of them.
If you’re putting together strut racks, I recommend using strut square washers instead of fender washers, since the latter are not as sturdy in my opinion.
Just like that
Seems like you didn’t have a bender to help with the lack of support for the conduit, so you used a prefab 45 instead.
It might have looked cleaner if you used double struts instead of two single pieces for your supports.
All things
Ensure the couplings are a perfect match
Consider joining the union or look for a company that can pair you with a skilled JW.
Some of the pictures show that there might be a lack of supports. Personally, I’d go for AA strut before building separate racks underneath. It’s quicker and makes it easier to maintain consistency.
Uy Cicinia AA support?
It’s reversible. Maybe it goes by another name, but that’s what we refer to it as around here. It’s essentially two pieces with the bottoms fused together.
Uy Cicinia, got it.
Uy Cicinia, man, that would have been a nice help. Too bad we didn’t have access to that type of strut.
There are too many connections
You might want to consider using a bender instead of prefabricated materials.
Hey , I wish I could make that call, brother.
I understand, Isaac arcia!
Consider stopping the lies
Hook up those empty pipes
Reat job on those bends, man!
I just came here to have a good laugh at the comments on this work. And I definitely got what I came for! LOL
I think having the supports closer to the 90s would be better. Still, good job!
I’m really happy I’m not in the pipe fitting business.
I don’t care what others think, you did a great job. 🫡
Why are you doing it alone?
All things
According to code, your pipe should be secured properly
Reat work with those temporary lights. Keep it going! 😘🤙🏻
Haha , that comment is the best!
You can actually put strut back to back and strap top and bottom for a tighter fit, right?
