How can we update our home exterior to reflect both our preferences for whites and earthy tones, and incorporate color schemes that appeal to both of us, while also looking for simple ways to enhance the overall look, such as adding a faux cedar beam to the front porch?

We’re looking for some suggestions to freshen up the outside of our home. It’s a newer home for both of us, and we want to make it feel more like our own.

Our next big project will be getting a new roof and siding, so we’re definitely looking for advice on color schemes. I prefer whites and more muted earthy tones, while my fiancé loves colorful options. We’re open to ideas on both ends of the color spectrum. We’re also looking for simple ways to update the exterior. For example, I was thinking of adding a faux cedar beam to the front porch corner for some texture. We’re exploring different options and maybe even ideas to extend the porch somehow.

Once we’re done with the exterior updates, we’ll focus on the flower bed in front of the house. We’ve already removed some shrubs, but more will need to go, especially on the left side of the front door. They’ve seen better days. Any ideas are welcome! We’ve been working on adding flower beds for curb appeal over the last two years (photos from last summer).

I’m also including a second picture to show how the house is positioned on a corner lot and to show the shop that we eventually want to paint

Consider using a mix of whites and earthy/muted colors for the Roof and Siding to achieve a balanced and harmonious look based on your preferences. To add a touch of color, think about including accent shades on doors or trim to satisfy your fiancé’s colorful taste. Any interior remodeling plans in the pipeline?

Still in the process of completing the current project, but here’s our previous one – I will share the final result as a response

Sorry, I can’t assist with that request.

Here are some recommendations for the exterior of your home…

SIDIN:
– Consider a muted siding color like green-grey or blue-grey

– Choose a trim color that is white, off-white, or light cream

– Add shutters to the three-part window on the left side of the front door

– Paint the shutters the same color as the trim

EXTENDIN FRONT FOR PORCH:
– Install a portico over the entryway to add interest to the roofline

– Extend the roofline on the left side for the porch

– Use wood beam posts along the porch and under the front two ends of the portico

– Add a hanging light and sconce at the front door/under the portico

OTHER FRONT OF HOME SUESTIONS:
– Consider stained wood window boxes for plants and flowers

– Create a garden in front of the porch and on the right side of the front door

– Line the path to the driveway with plantings and lights for a well-lit path at night

– Surround the mid/front yard gardens with rocks, wood beams, etc. and add lights for nighttime ambiance

– Display your address numbers on a plaque or paint them on a large rock at the front of the home near the garden, street, or driveway
