How can we prevent water from overflowing the gutter guard and leaking into the roof due to excessive volume in that area?

Do you have any suggestions for preventing water from spilling over the gutter guard? There’s a lot of water flowing down that valley and it’s causing leaks in the roof below because the guard can’t handle the high volume. Any thoughts on how to fix it? Thanks!
Consider getting bigger gutters.
Consider using a splash guard
How about a taller gutter that goes out more on the sides?
Bigger gutters at 6 inches wide
Make sure to clear out the gutters! The roof is covered in debris, just think about what could be in the gutters.

Personally, I think adding a downspout would be a good idea.
If we assume the gutters are free of debris and the current downspouts aren’t blocked, you should consider installing another downspout.
The gutters can’t handle all the water, so you should install a downspout by each of those two splash guards.
We had to get taller guards made because the regular ones weren’t cutting it.
Consider installing an extra downspout to alleviate the excess water flow
People have suggested that adding a downspout is the best solution to address the clogged gutter
Does it only happen when it’s pouring or anytime it rains?
If you’re only experiencing leaks during heavy rain, this is what the roof leak looks like when it’s pouring down.
If it’s only happening when it’s pouring rain, you might be limited in what you can do. The gutter is overflowing because of the sheer amount of water and force in that area. You could consider installing larger guards in that spot. But remember, the leaking roof below is a separate issue.
Consider installing wider gutters. There is a significant difference in how they handle water run-off between standard builder-grade gutters and gutters that are properly sized. Typically, builders opt for the cheapest option that barely meets code requirements. As a result, many people assume that just because something is ‘new’, it was installed correctly.
Leaf filter? Just kidding. 😅
You should have ridges in the valley to help decrease the speed of water flow.
Is this something that is possible to add?
That downspout seems pretty short, but I’m guessing the gutters are blocked. The shallow valley really shouldn’t be handling that amount of water flow and speed.
I’ve heard that adding a downspout is necessary. Have you figured out a better location to redirect the water away from causing more issues?
Hey, if there’s no way to run a straight line to the ground, you can always go around obstacles and get it to the ground. The bottom line is, if your gutters are overflowing, it’s probably because there aren’t enough downspouts or the ones you have are blocked.
Like others mentioned, it’s important to prevent water from getting in. For the overflow problem, consider installing a taller guard or even a hood that is bent at a 33-degree angle towards the roof. Another option is to upgrade to a larger gutter size from 5 inches to 6 inches. Best of luck!
That corner definitely needs a downspout.
