How can we effectively address the wood rot that has been exacerbated by neglect and tree branches causing water and carpenter ant damage?

I would really appreciate any advice on how to deal with this wood rot issue. The house was pretty neglected before we moved in last year. We noticed that tree branches were creeping up under the roof flashing, which let water and carpenter ants wreak havoc.
You should definitely call a contractor, I wouldn’t risk touching it…it’s like a dangerous game of kerplunk…who knows if that lumber is holding everything together….or just for show…
Based on that significant hole, it appears to be a structural issue. What does the inside look like?
The inside of looks good. It appears to be supporting, being a 16ft long 4×6, but doesn’t match the original building blueprints
Oh no, that’s rough. It might be a good idea to reinforce another post, but I’m not sure about the bottom plate. I think it’s best to consult a professional before the heavy brick walls give in
I wanted to let you know that your house is really impressive
Hey, thanks man. We scored a really good deal on this place, but man, the amount of work it needs can be overwhelming at times
Yeah, I totally believe it. The design is awesome though. It’s going to be so worth it!!
