How can we create a gap at the bottom for the hardwood flooring edge to slide under when adding standard fake rock veneer?

We’re planning to install hardwood flooring. Does anyone know how to create a gap at the bottom for the flooring to slide under? Just standard fake rock veneer.
Instead of cutting the stone, try fitting the floor around it. You can create a template using cardboard and the stone, then cut and install with a jigsaw. 😊
Using a masonry blade on a door frame saw
This seems to be a front, if you begin cutting you’ll end up in chaos. You can either take off the bottom layer and trim as needed or cut the hardwood to size.
For a more polished look, consider renting an undercut saw from a home center. This will make the flooring installation process faster, easier, and more accurate. It can also be used to undercut doorjambs with a specialized blade – abrasive for faux stone and wood blade for jambs.
Slowly but surely, use a multitool
Grinder
This is the professional method. I am not certain if you can rent the necessary tools. Make sure to use a stone or concrete blade.
Maybe try wrapping the wood around instead.
I use a diamond-tipped blade to cut the stone regularly. It’s part of my daily work routine.
I’ve been laying floors for 35 years. You just need a handheld grinder with a 4 inch diamond blade and a shop vac.
After you remove the carpet and pad, there should be plenty of space to slide the board underneath.
Regarding : This ^^^
Make sure not to cut the faux rock itself, but instead cut the flooring to fit around the rock. It may help to use a guide while cutting your piece. The faux rock can probably be removed by unscrewing it from the base, allowing you to finish the flooring underneath and then place the rock back on top.
If you end up cutting the cement rock, make sure to record a video and share it with us here.
Before you get too worked up, can you tell me how thick the carpet and padding are? Once you remove the carpet, is there a gap? And if there is, is it large enough for the new flooring? If not, you may need to scribe the flooring to match the stone. It can be a bit time-consuming, but you’ll manage. Best of luck!
After taking out the carpet, you may have sufficient space. If not, they are stuck on. You have the option to remove the bottom layer by prying or utilize an oscillating tool to trim it.
‘t forget to caulk around the lower area when you’re done haha, similar to grout
This is awesome!
Any chance you could share a link for the rock veneer? I’ve been searching everywhere for this exact look, but haven’t been satisfied with what I’ve found so far. This is truly beautiful!
I totally agree with
Looks like you’ll need to do some scribing on that one…
You probably just need to shave off a small amount. Grab a grinder and a 4.5” continuous rim diamond blade and carefully shave the bottom as necessary. Make sure there is at least a 1/8” inch gap between the flooring and stone vertically. When installing yourself, keep in mind the need for a 3/4” expansion gap at the ends to avoid going all the way under the stone. Aim for a quarter to half-inch gap only.
‘t forget about the oscillating tool.
Make sure to leave an expansion gap and use T molding in that area. If you push it in too tightly, you’ll end up with a lot of buckling.
As we removed the carpet and padding, we noticed a nice gap there.
