How can I update my kitchen’s worn-out paint job without sanding or buying new cabinets, while ensuring a lasting and attractive finish?

Hey, I’m having a bit of a dilemma with my kitchen colors. The house used to be a rental and the walls have a few too many coats of paint on them. My boyfriend is against sanding them down, and I’m not too keen on buying new ones. I’m worried that even if we paint them again, the old paint chips and scratches will still show through. Any suggestions on how to make them look nice and last longer?

You’ll need to smooth out or fill any scratches or chips. But you don’t necessarily have to sand them all the way down to the bare wood. If there’s multiple layers of paint already, you might want to think about using a chemical stripper to remove them. Just keep in mind that you’ll still need to do some sanding afterwards.
