How can I temporarily fix my garden shed wall for a wedding in a month, including replacing rotting wood siding and securing the bottom sill to concrete?

Hey there! So, I was over at my garden shed and noticed that the door hinge was about to say goodbye, so I had to reattach it. Well, one thing led to another and I found more issues that need fixing before my wedding next month on the property. Don’t worry, we’ll give it a proper fix come summer when we have more time. For now, I just need a quick and good-looking solution that works.

I was thinking of maybe swapping out the bottom sill, but I’m not sure how tough it’ll be to lift the wall for a 2×4. Then I was thinking of adding some extra 2×4’s to the existing studs. How should I secure the bottom sill to the concrete? Could I use the existing anchor holes?

If I skip the bottom sill replacement, could I still add more studs to attach the siding to?

Also, I noticed there’s wood siding with a layer of styrofoam and vinyl siding on top. How can I replace the rotted wood siding?

Any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Oof… that’s not just decay – appears to be termite damage. To improve the appearance for the wedding, your best bet might be covering up the exposed framework with some exterior grade plywood and replacing the missing siding. If you attempt to reinforce it with more wood, there may not be enough for the new wood to attach to.

As you move forward with the permanent solution, you’ll need to inspect the extent of the compromised framework.

I plan to spray for termites, pick up some plywood to paint and match, and hang a big decorative banner to cover most of the siding before the wedding. After that, I’ll properly fix it.

Is the roof line straight? That’s not good. I’m surprised it’s still holding up.
