How can I successfully cover the frame of my mirror with fabric to achieve a more antique look, considering the challenge of a small lip where the wood meets the glass?

I picked up some fabric that I want to use to cover the frame of this mirror, but I’m a bit unsure about the best way to go about it. Any ideas? I was thinking of using a staple gun to secure the fabric around the back, but I’m not sure how to make it tight and get it over that small lip where the wood meets the glass.
I’m aiming to give this mirror a more antique vibe rather than a country look. Any other suggestions are welcome!
If possible, try removing the mirror as some may be glued to the frame and not easy to remove.
Use spray adhesive to attach the fabric.
