How can I spruce up my kitchen on a budget without a complete remodel to make it more cohesive and maximize DIY potential?

Hey everyone! I need some help! Just moved into a new place and I want to spruce up the kitchen without breaking the bank with a full remodel.

My kitchen has a lot of different elements going on, but they don’t quite come together. Grey floors, yellow walls on most of the walls, white cabinets, grey counters, a light brown stained counter, a dark grey “accent wall” on the island, and dark brown wood in the connecting rooms.

I can’t afford a complete kitchen overhaul, so I’m looking for ideas to make everything more cohesive and how to focus my DIY efforts and limited budget.

So far, I’ve added some fun decals to the backsplash tile, put up charcoal adhesive wallpaper on the island for a pop of color, changed out the cabinet pulls, got a new Koehler sink, and installed a new light/ceiling fan fixture.

Should I consider painting, replacing the island countertop, or adding more lighting? I’m also thinking about doing the top of the island in quartz or marble to match the accent wall. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Just ignore the mess in some of the pictures; it’s hard to keep it clean with three little ones running around! I’ve included

Have you thought about upgrading the island countertop and accent wall to quartz or marble? It might be a good idea to also repaint the walls to create a cohesive look with both warm and cool tones. Try to keep everything moving in the same direction.

You could consider wrapping the kitchen cabinets with vinyl to give the kitchen a fresh new appearance. Check out http://www.wrapmykitchen.com for more information.
