How can I seamlessly merge vinyl plank flooring with existing hardwood after removing a dividing wall in my living and dining rooms?

I’m replacing the carpet in the living room with vinyl plank and taking out a pony wall between the dining and living room. Any suggestions on how to blend the floors with the gap from removing the wall? Do you think I should cut the hardwood back to create a straight line?

Reducing the amount of flooring seems like a smart plan. That way, if there’s a change in material, it will be in a straight line. Good call!

If you’re looking to cover the gap with flooring, make sure to find material that will cover it evenly.
