Hey, so I’m dealing with a bit of a situation here – the band board on my mobile home where the back deck used to be is starting to rot. It’s about 12 feet long and there’s also some rot on the edge of the subfloor, siding, and floor joints. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Let’s start by securing the sister on the new joist and then attaching a new rim board.
Seems like a good time
First, make sure to clean and treat any mold-affected areas, then add support beams to all impacted joists, along with a rim board and T1-11 using pressure-treated wood. ‘t forget to install new skirting around the entire home.
In addition to swapping out clear structural and aesthetic trim….. Once you’ve gotten rid of mold and decay from the subfloor edges, or areas that are too small to replace, there’s a product called wood petrifier that will harden it. After that, you can patch it up with wood epoxy. There’s a helpful YouTube video on this (fixing window frames) and you can find the necessary materials on Amazon.
