How can I repair floor-to-ceiling corner cracks in drywall in one room?

I’m wondering, what’s the best way to repair those cracks in the corners of the drywall? There are two corners in one room that go all the way from the floor to the ceiling.

Seems to be wallpaper that has been painted over. Remove it and apply paper joint tape and durabond. There are plenty of videos on YouTube for reference.

Take a look behind it. Seems like there’s a corner that’s rotted out.

The only solution is to tear it out and put in a new one.

Seems like it’s old-fashioned plaster, not drywall

Elizabeth Lawson

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, .

Seems like they opted for seam tape over corner bead, let’s cut or scrape it out and put in metal corner beading

Joseph Patil

Let’s work on the corner beads and compound. We’ll feather it out to match. Keep in mind that old houses expand and contract, so just patching it with compound might lead to cracks again.

Jacobo Ocampo

Let’s cut it out, re-tape, and mud it up

Dorofeya Makarushka

Seems like they skipped using corner bead or paper tape. Corners are prone to damage from the house’s movements. That’s why it’s important to use paper or corner bead instead of just compound.

Caulking could be the simplest solution at times

Daniel Johansen

Clean up the surface until it’s smooth and apply mud and tape, then blend it out after smoothing the tape

Mason Clarke

Pretend you didn’t see that

Owen Da Silva

Swap out the loose part, add fresh tape and mud to the interior corner

Vukan Nemanjić

Cleaning it out and applying caulk works wonders. I personally use a chalk tool to spread it evenly.
