How can I repair and transform a removed kitchen cabinet into a small island for my kitchen with limited woodworking experience?

Hey there! So, we recently had to remove a kitchen cabinet in our 20-year-old house (new to us) to make room for a dishwasher. I’m thinking of turning it into a small island for our kitchen instead. Any tips on fixing up the sides, bottom, and attaching a countertop would be really appreciated. I’ve dabbled in woodworking a bit, but I’m pretty basic. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
Cover the damaged side with a birch sheet and cut a piece for the toe kick as well.
To fix the hole, fill it with wood filler for a clean interior look. Then, find a matching sheet of wood or veneer to glue onto the exterior, including the toe kick.
‘t forget to secure the cabinet to the floor to prevent tipping over.
Followed a similar approach by purchasing a second cabinet at a habitat restore, joining them together, covering the sides and back with headboard, painting everything the same color, and adding a butcher block countertop.
Saw a lady on YouTube extend her cabinet/island to slide out on one side. She painted it, didn’t like it, and covered the sides with peel and stick wallpaper. Remember to patch and sand the hole before proceeding.
Used a wider base cabinet for more space. Regretted not making the top larger to double as a table.
Cut a piece of wood and attach hooks to hang baking and cooking utensils, or even hand towels and dishcloths.
