How can I repair a snapped 4 post set in a concrete pillar without breaking it up, given that it’s 6 ft in the ground and holding up adjoining panels?

Hey there, I need some advice on fixing a 4″ post that broke off in a concrete pillar. I really don’t want to dig up the whole thing since it’s buried pretty deep. The post snapped during that crazy Ottawa storm on May 21, 2022 and now it’s just hanging on by a thread. My plan is to take off Panels A & B and then secure the intact part of the 4″ post back onto the concrete using a 4″ x 4″ Wood Post Connector Plate. What do you think about that idea?

I can’t see any good reason why that post would be buried 6ft deep unless your frost line is that deep. But yeah, your best bet is to remove the footer and replace the post. That fence really should have had larger posts, like 4×6 set perpendicular to the fence line.
