How can I repair a side entrance door where the wood chipped off where the hinges were bolted without replacing the plank on the frame?

Hey, I need some advice on how to repair the side entrance door. The wood around the door hinges got chipped off – do you think there’s a way to bolt it back without having to replace the whole plank in the frame?

The hinge got installed the wrong way.. the lengthy side should be on the gate.. apply glue, clamp that plank and switch the hinge.

Please switch out that piece of wood and reattach it. And don’t forget, those hinges are actually installed backwards – they need to be flipped around.

It seems like the plank cracked along the screw line. You’ll need to use outdoor wood glue to stick it back together and then fill and drill new holes. One workaround is to use wedges to keep the door closed while the glue sets. But the most effective method would be to take the door off and clamp it.
