How can I refresh my chipping cabinets to match my blue counters without making them look muddy?

I’m thinking about painting my cabinets, but I’m not sure where to begin. The layers of paint are starting to chip off, and I want to switch to a lighter color that goes well with my blue counters. Do you think I should strip them, sand them, or just prime over the existing paint? I don’t want it to end up looking too messy.

You know, I’m thinking you could strip the sand and either go for white painted cabinets or reveal the natural wood underneath and stain it. I have a feeling it would really brighten up the space and look fantastic with the blue counters. Good luck with whatever you end up choosing!

I think these are probably particle board, could I strip them in the same manner?

Remove doors, Sand/roughen, prime with a Waterborne Alkyd Interior Primer/Sealer for 2 coats, then paint with a Waterborne Alkyd for 2 coats.
Try to use a small brush and mini roller whenever you can.

Check out Heirloom Traditions all-in-one paint. No need for sanding!
