How can I properly repair a broken black drain pipe coupling that does not fit over the drain pipe and is causing a leak?

So, we were replacing our sink drains, right? And when we were putting everything back together, the black drain pipe that connects to the p trap ended up breaking loose. The thing is, the black coupling doesn’t seem to fit over the drain pipe, so we’re thinking it was actually part of the drain pipe itself. We tried using a temporary piece (you can see it in the last picture), but it’s still leaking. Any ideas on the right way to fix this?

You’re right, that trap needs to be replaced. It’s all one piece and it broke, so it needs a new one to work properly.

Swap out the ABS 90 and rubber coupler with PVC.
