How can I properly fix water leaking through my guest bathroom exhaust fan during heavy rains and wind, even after the builder’s attempted fix?
Hey everyone, looking for some advice here. We moved into our new house early this year and everything is great except for one thing – water dripping through our guest bathroom exhaust fan when it’s raining and windy. I checked the roof vent and it seems to be in good shape, just like the others that aren’t leaking.
I had the builder come back to take a look and they said they fixed the issue in the attic. But when I checked it out myself, all they did was disconnect the insulated ducting tube from the roof vent and extend it, causing the water to collect in a flat area on the insulation. Unfortunately, the builder is no longer involved.
Any suggestions on how to solve this problem? I was thinking of having a professional roofer inspect the roof vent to see if that’s where the water is getting in. I’ve attached photos of the makeshift ducting job, the other normal vents in the attic, and the roof vent that’s causing trouble.
Any help would be much appreciated!
I’ve got a roofing professional coming over this week for an inspection. I’m wondering if there’s a different kind of exhaust vent they could consider using. I might also have to replace the insulated duct hose since it seems to be soaked with water.
