How can I properly convert a raised fireplace hearth into a flush one with loose bricks and cinder blocks present?

Thinking about making the raised fireplace hearth flat instead. My idea was to use spray foam to fill in cracks, followed by self-leveling concrete, then thinset and tile. The left side had brick, but the rest is made of cinder blocks.
Surprisingly found some loose bricks on top of strapping.
Would love to hear any advice you have! Thanks in advance!
Remove those bricks and replace them with a full thin block or cap block to match the others.
