How can I prevent red-brown spots from bleeding through paint layers in my room despite multiple primer and paint coats?

I’ve been working on painting this room, and I keep noticing these pesky red/brown spots that keep showing through the paint in different spots. Any thoughts on what might be causing this and how I can make it stop bleeding through? It seems to happen right after I paint over it, so I don’t think it’s the old color. It’s strange because it’s only happening in certain areas, not the whole room. I’ve already tried two coats of primer and one coat of paint, but I’m going to give it one more shot later today.
Use a palm sander to remove it, apply a thin layer of compound, sand again, use a coat of Killz stain blocker, and then you’re ready to paint.
Make sure to clean it off and then seal it with BIN Zinsser shellac-based primer. It’s the best product I’ve come across for sealing all types of stains. Works a lot better than Kilz.
Suggested grabbing a rattle can of BIN for small areas.
Try using Upshot spray stain sealer to spot treat before repainting.
Before painting, use an oil-based spray primer from a can on those areas.
Maybe the rust is from the sheetrock screws. A permanent marker can have the same effect. If the earlier advice doesn’t help, try removing the screw, replacing it, patching, sanding, and repainting.
Not prepping well leads to a bad paint job. Beyond the bleed through, it’s obvious that the raised areas were not smoothed down, and most likely not even cleaned. Preparation is crucial for any paint job.
Seems like rust from old nails….perhaps it got wet before.
Give Bullseye primer a shot
Use Shellac base sealer before painting
Primer by kilz
If that’s a wood pine paneling wall, those spots might be sap. In a kitchen, they could be grease. I’d suggest sanding it down first, then using Kitz primer before painting with a higher quality paint. Sherwin Williams Super-paint is a good option, or I’ve even had success with Walmart’s generic brand.
The first coat of primer, like Kilz, can be tinted like regular paint. Make it similar to your final coat so you only need one more coat.
Thank you all!
