How can I prevent my newly installed microwave from hitting the wall when I open the door, since it sticks out further than the previous one?

Hey, I need some help with my new microwave. Every time I try to open the door, it hits the wall on the left and doesn’t fully open, which could end up damaging the wall. I’m confused because the previous microwave fit just fine, but this one sticks out more. I’ve checked out other microwaves, and they all seem to have the same length. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? Thanks so much!

Looks like you may need to consider getting another microwave. Certain models have door hinges that swing differently, like the whirlpool microwave. The model YWMH53521HZ should have a door hinge that solves the wall-hitting issue.

It seems like the microwave is just too large for the space.

You know, for a microwave that won’t hit the wall, you should go for a zero clearance one. There’s this guy on YouTube who demonstrates the perfect microwave to buy.

: Oh yeah, I had the same problem a few months ago. I didn’t even realize there was an issue until I got the new one installed. Hopefully you can return the new one where you bought it from. Lowe’s has a 48-hour return window, but if you talk to a manager, they might make an exception. I ended up getting the Friedrich one mentioned in the video, he lists the model number.
