How can I neatly finish off this brick wall with baseboard molding and a bump out board when it’s 316 from the corner?

What’s the best way to finish off this wall to make it look tidy? We initially thought about ending the brick 3/16 from the corner, but then my son wanted to add baseboard molding and a board to extend the wall. I’m stumped, do you have any suggestions? If you have any pictures or ideas, that would be really helpful. I can handle tools, just need some guidance on this one…
The base needs to wrap all the way around and meet the outside corner at the top. After that, be sure to caulk and paint it since it’s white.
YES, exactly!!
I think it would be more visually appealing to have a return instead of just a cut end.
I’ve hit a creativity block, haha, just throwing some ideas out there to see how it turns out
I understand. That situation is a bit challenging to handle
Can you trim the brick corner moulding and wrap it all around the corner? Extend the baseboard when it passes the brick and have the corner moulding fit into the extended baseboard. This way, the 4.5 inch base on the end wall will meet the brick base. Fill any gaps on top of the brick base with backing or padding to avoid any unevenness.
In my opinion, the easiest method is to cut the vertical moulding flush with the top of the baseboard and then add a wooden block.
Oh, I never considered trying it this way, thanks a lot for sharing this!
Remove all corner pieces and trim the corner post to fit snugly on both sides to achieve a beam/post look.
That idea is amazing!
It seems like the piece that should be there is missing, and the carpenter is depending on the painters.
The corner plinth.
Is on board. It’s a done deal.
Never even considered that! I appreciate the suggestion!
Trim the vertical piece at the top of the base and extend the solid base underneath.
Who chewed – I mean, who cut – the baseboard?
Hahaha, MDF is like scrap material when you want to see how it turns out. I recently learned that you can’t polish MDF the way you can with wood…
I really need to see what’s higher up to make a call.
I’d run the base without interruptions and add support for everything above that.
Try cutting the vertical molding at a 45-degree angle on both ends to create a corner.
Looks like someone made a mistake by not aligning the finished sheetrock properly with the brick initially. It would be best to turn it around for the baseboard.
It took me 2 hours spread over 2 days to complete the task with wood putty, sandpaper, and a bit of skill. Haha
Remove the corner trim and extend a new piece of baseboard all the way across
