How can I make the side of this vanity flush with other surfaces?

Hey, do you have any suggestions for what I could add to the side of this vanity so that it lines up perfectly?
You could have a carpenter add the trim.
How about adding some white 1″x”4″ trim?
Need more planning… Haha
Let it be. That’s the way it’s supposed to look. If you trim the styles, it will close the gap on the sides, but there will still be a gap around the top of the sink base and it will look completely off. Let it be.
Have white quartz created for side splashes and back splash sides starting from the bottom of the sink
You should consider adding a backsplash here. If you don’t, the drywall could get seriously damaged by water in no time. It won’t be a pleasant sight, but a tiled piece can be added to the backsplash to cover the gaps beside the sink.
Did you know there’s PVC molding designed specifically for this?
Consider getting a larger vanity
If you need another toilet handle, just reach out to the manufacturer

Take off the door and Extend the vertical sides to meet the floor, then add a panel from the top of the vertical sides to the desired height above the sink on all sides to close the gap, and finally seal it with caulk.
I wouldn’t recommend it unless you want water damage. It’s important to have it open so it can dry out while in use and prevent splashing.
Maybe consider this look instead. And don’t forget to include a back splash and side splashes.
Add a few sections of drywall to each side to create a seamless wall. Who thought it was a good idea to make it so oversized?

Oh, I see what you mean, !
It’s not going to flush properly. You’ll need a toilet for that.
Haha, , I totally interpreted it the same way!
Swap it out for a pedestal sink. No matter what you try, it just doesn’t seem to fit. Remember to plan out your projects before diving in.
Are you thinking of tiling the backsplash on all three walls surrounding it?
Have you ever wondered why people purchase cabinets that are too big or too small?
If you’re looking for custom-sized cabinets, it’s going to be pricier. Most folks just go with what’s already made, you know – the “standard sizes”. The size of the opening is just fixed, it’s likely an unusual width or not standard.
Hey Steve, the price is a factor to consider.
Hey Steve, some of us choose to buy things within our budget or even recycle and give them a new purpose.
Hey Landon, have you thought about getting a separate top that you can customize to fit?
Just make sure to be careful when installing anything, so the cabinet door under the sink can still open.

Talking about a specific case
What if we take out the sink and transform the room into a closet?
I think spray foam could be a nice touch! Maybe even a pool noodle 😆
How about some Big Stretch caulk? 😄
To complete the look, add filler panels to each side of the front of the vanity and then swap out the sink for a countertop that is cut to fit
You might want to consider adding an additional layer of drywall on both sides to fill in the gap evenly, then adding a piece of trim on top for a nice, concealed look. If not, be sure to measure the vanity and plan accordingly so that the alcove fits snugly around it
Check out fillers at building supply stores for white vinyl trim to cover top edges. It’s a convenient place to store various items like brushes, combs, and toothbrushes.
A handle? Just kidding. 1 times with laminate on top
In my opinion, a pedestal sink would work better in this space. To make it happen, I’d need to create filler pieces for the sides of the cabinet and either replace the sink with a custom countertop or add one on top. The new front lip would need to cover the old sink and a notch would have to be cut for the faucet placement
If you don’t plan on changing the vanity top, it might be best to keep it as is…. they do sell fillers for when you change the top, but if it’s not wall to wall it could end up looking awkward… adding side and backsplashes is also a good idea
Or maybe you could consider a pedestal sink if the plumbing is already set up correctly… it looks like a small bathroom from the picture, so I understand the need for storage with a vanity
Wait, did you say a toilet? Well, you’ll also need a reliable plumber.
Hey , are we a DIY group? We’re looking for creative ideas, not professional plumbers
If you’re okay with it, go ahead and install the toilet yourself 😂
Get rid of it, and instead, install a countertop with a square sink on top. You can even repurpose the cabinet door from that piece.
Add more Sheetrock
I’m thinking about cutting holes in the drywall to create built-in shelves on both sides using the studs, then adding trim for a more intentional look. You could even add decorative tile around it to tie it into a backsplash.
It’s a shame when all you want is advice without the negative remarks 😒 .
Trim
That quarter round is huge!
Haha, a toilet!
Wait, is the vanity purchased from Menards?
You might consider doing shiplap all the way up on the walls like everyone is into for decor these days.
You gotta have a toilet for that.
I would recommend keeping it as it is. Making changes to the sides might not improve the situation.
Hey, one way you could try fixing it is by moving the vanity to the right and adding some 2×4 to the left side to make it fit snugly. Then you can put everything back in place after painting.
If the piece is not square, simply adjust by adding the necessary amount to the 2×4 rip
