How can I make putting up patterned wallpaper around a vent hood easier?

I’m looking to add some wallpaper to this wall (marked in pink) but I’m not sure how to begin! I’ve got all the tools and plenty of wallpaper, but it’s a patterned one that needs to be aligned perfectly. I think removing the vent hood temporarily would make things a lot easier, but I don’t think I’m allowed to do that…
By the way, my friends had a great idea of using parchment paper to create a template around the hood, which is brilliant.
Do you have any other tips or suggestions to make this process as smooth as possible?
Is the paper easy to clean? I’m wondering if I can scrub the tile behind my stove without ruining the design.
The wall paper near the stove might not be the best choice. It’ll be tough to clean and the heat could cause it to bubble or come loose.
Having a sharp exacto knife is key for cutting around the hood. Begin at the bottom behind the stove and work your way up from where the paper meets the cabinet.
Taking apart range hoods is pretty straightforward. Just unscrew the stack portion from the side to make your life easier.
