Can someone please help me out? I tried using the Rust-oleum counter top coating kit and applied two coats, but it looks really streaky. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thank you!

Either the paint wasn’t mixed thoroughly or you should consider applying more than two coats. In any case, it looks like you’ll need an additional coat.

I’m not entirely sure, but I believe the prep work is key when it comes to painting projects.

I would also make sure to let it dry between each coat

Happy to hear it worked for you

Were you able to apply a primer before starting? I believe an oil-based primer was recommended prior to applying the epoxy.

Hey Mary! There aren’t many paint projects that can skip using a primer. For something like this, it’s best to clean it thoroughly with a degreaser, sand it down, and prime it with a product like BIN or Zinsser Cover Stain. After that, sand it again before you start painting.

Once you reach this stage, you might as well keep applying more coats until it appears even and hope that it remains durable in the long run.

When it comes to painting projects, the prep work is crucial. If you’ve followed the instructions, you should be all set.

I’ve actually used that product before and it worked out fine. I sanded the countertop to remove the shine and applied 3 coats using a foam roller. It took about 3 days for it to completely dry.

It lasted really well for 2 years after, we ended up selling that house so I’m not sure how it is now lol maybe it wasn’t thoroughly mixed? I’d suggest lightly sanding the countertop and applying another coat. You don’t need primer as long as you prepare the countertop.

Is it completely dry now? Streaks may disappear

Happy to see it improving
