How can I efficiently remove a stipple ceiling without the time-consuming processes of wet scraping and drywalling?

Who here has tackled that bumpy ceiling texture before? It’s not the typical “popcorn” style, I think it’s called “stipple”. I’ve tried a couple of methods on different rooms.

I’ve gone the route of wetting, scraping, sanding, and repeating. Such a messy and time-consuming process. The end result was nice, but definitely not the most efficient.

I’ve also attempted drywalling and mudding over it, but that wasn’t a quick or cost-effective solution either.

Any other suggestions for getting rid of this texture?

Ot an idea! rab a sponge float, a hawk, and a scaffold. Load up that sponge float with drywall mud and give it a good swirl like a half moon. Keep it consistent for looks. This would be my game plan if I wanted a change…

Following. I have a ceiling like this that I’m not a fan of.

It’s a bit messy, but I used a roller to wet the mud and then troweled it flat.

I connected a vacuum to my sander with 220 grit sandpaper. Leveled everything and then proceeded with the rest of the work.

Cover it with a sheet.

We decided to put a shiplap panel over ours.
