How can I effectively remove the running residue on my bedroom walls to prep them for repainting?

So, our bedroom walls are covered in this stuff that I need to sand down before I can repaint them. Any suggestions or advice for tackling this?

Dealing with this will be quite a challenge, but if you choose to, consider using an electric sander or skim coating the wall with spackle, sanding, and priming. It’s a tedious process either way.

Use a heat gun and scraper to gently soften paint, keep moving the heat gun and wear protective gear for eyes, hands, and breathing.

How old is your home? Are the walls made of plaster?

So, like others have suggested, you should skim coat the wall to avoid excessive sanding. Apply the skim coat in thin layers, starting with the low spots. It may take longer than you think, but it’ll pay off.

Lightly spread joint compound over the entire surface and sand until smooth. Keep sanding until priming and painting.

Have you attempted to scrape it off with a painter’s knife to see how it reacts? Am I missing something, or is the paint job just really poor?

Ron Butler

Oh wow, if that’s the case, I could skip the whole process of skim coating, sanding, and priming and try something easier

Ron Butler

Maybe it’s because of that, they sprayed too much or textured it with a can
