You can use a sander or grinder to create a smooth area on the wall texture.

You might want to consider using clear pvc primer

I used pvc primer to remove paint from a smooth concrete floor. I was surprised by how effective it was

Getting construction adhesive off 1905 plaster, huh? Now, that’s a bit tricky, but we can definitely tackle it. Let’s give it a shot, shall we?
BE GENTLE: Old plaster is finicky – treat it with care. Test a hidden area first.
GOOD OL’ SOAP AND WATER: Sometimes, warm water and mild detergent are all you need. Dampen a soft cloth or sponge and gently rub.
PLASTIC SCRAPER: If that doesn’t do it, try a plastic scraper to carefully remove the adhesive.
HEAT IT UP: Have a hairdryer handy? Heating the adhesive can help soften it up.
SPECIALIST REMOVERS: If all else fails, consider getting a specialized adhesive remover from the store. Just ensure it’s safe for plaster and follow instructions closely.
Remember, take your time and handle with care. That plaster has been around longer than us both, so it needs a gentle touch. Best of luck, and don’t get too stuck on the job! 😉

Please don’t do it. I can guarantee that you will regret it, along with all the decisions that led up to it. Want to know how I know?

Cover it with a piece of drywall. Once it’s out of sight, it’s out of mind.

Alisha Burklund I feel you! Get ready for a ton of stress and annoyance. It felt like everything I did just made it worse.

Alisha Burklund you know, I have no idea what sort of bizarre wall creation that was, but it had wood paneling that I ended up taking down, hahaha. 😂

Just slap some 1/4” drywall over the whole thing. Easier job, right?

Chisel then some drywall mud – just be careful with that chisel!

Remove and repair gently
