How can I effectively close the gap between my new windows and drywall for a seamless finish?

We just had some new windows installed, but now there’s a pretty noticeable gap between the drywall and the window. Any suggestions on how to fix this properly?

Make sure to tape off the window and apply mud, or you can work on framing the window.

You should fill the gap with a backer rod and then seal it with a product such as Sikaflex.

If it were me, I’d cut back the foam a bit and then fill it in with an easy fill filler.

Sure, consider using a vapor barrier backer/filler system that is effective and allows for a bit of movement. Simply taping and using drywall mud may not completely prevent vapor from moving around.

Maybe consider using trimmer or something similar

You could try adding wide molding, or go the extra mile and replace the sheet rock up to it

I honestly think using molding would be a good idea to blend them together

Can you believe they left it like that? You might need to add some trim or flat tape, apply a thin layer of joint compound, cover it with tape, let it dry, repeat until it’s relatively smooth, then sand and paint.
