How can I design built-in bookshelves to make the most of a slightly angled wall by the doorway using the Billy bookshelf hack?

Hey guys, I need some advice on what you think would be the best approach. I’m planning to put up some bookshelves on this wall and turn them into built-ins using the Billy bookshelf hack. The only issue is that the left side of the wall near the doorway is a bit angled. Any ideas on how to design it so the bookshelves look built-in from the doorway to the wall?

Consider extending the bookshelves to the end of the ‘straight’ wall, then adding custom angled shelves along the angled wall. You have the option of either attaching the shelves directly to a single board against the Billy bookcases or constructing an entire enclosed unit.

You could even figure out how to stack a triangular shelf like the RĂ¥grund

There’s a thermostat and light switch on that wall. You wouldn’t want to block access to the door frame anyway. Also, take into account the weight you’ll be placing on the shelves.

Complete the built-ins along the angled wall.

I heard that there are slimmer bookcases that can be put together at an angle and then covered with trim for a smooth finish. But I also saw a suggestion from someone else to steer clear of the spot near your light switch. Just keep it simple.

Can you tell me more about the billy bookcase hack?
