How can I create grooves in a railing for glass to sit in using a dado blade, and ensure the ends are flush with the glass?

How can I create a groove similar to the one shown in the railing for the glass to fit into? Would using a dado blade work for this? If so, how should I handle the ends of the cuts to ensure they are flush with the end of the glass?

Can Kevin dado on the table saw first and then finish the cut on the router table?

Utilize a router on a router table with a straight router bit that cuts downwards. Attach stops to the table to mark the boundaries of the cut. Employ a chisel to square off the cut ends.
