How can I achieve a flush look between my butcher block countertops and backsplash without adding trim?

Hey there! Just joined the group, thanks for adding me!

My dad and I recently installed some cabinets and a butcher block countertop. The only issue is that the butcher block is square, but the wall isn’t – facepalm! I’m thinking of adding a backsplash or some type of backer board for shipl so that everything looks seamless. I really don’t want to add any trim where the butcher block and backsplash meet.

I’m a bit lost on how to make the backsplash and countertops flush like they should be. Any advice would be greatly appreciated – thanks so much in advance! 😊

I suggest making a custom thick backslash that matches the butcher block wood and adding it. Make sure it has a ‘tongue’ to fill the gap behind the shelf that matches the width and length.

For this, grab a small washer and pencil. Run the washer along the wall to trace the shape. Use a jig saw to trim and it should fit perfectly. You can also search ‘scribing’ on YouTube to find a helpful video.

That could work, , as long as there’s enough overhang on the front end to make up for what’s cut off.
