It’s been a minute since I’ve tackled a house renovation. Almost finished with one floor, just one more to go. Taking a breather right now. Haha.

Wow, great work! Did you glue your wood floors down? Mine are, and that’s why I haven’t started yet.
Where did you purchase your flooring?
Special flooring.
You know, I think they missed an opportunity by not extending the new levels to the exterior wall and blending them into the ceiling. It would have eliminated that strange vertical jamb in the middle of the room and along the ceiling. They could have left the other post since it seems to be where the soffit was, so it looks good from this angle. The transformation is massive, great work!
Appreciate it. I was thinking the same thing, but since this is a complete 2500 square foot renovation, I’m trying to cut expenses. The engineer specified these parallam beams as a more affordable choice.

Got any suggestions following your most recent situation? We’re looking to switch out the carpet in three bedrooms, hallway, and stairs with waterproof hardwood flooring in a few weeks.
I guess every layout is unique. I opened up 3 walls and as a result, there was a 3/4″ difference in height from one end of the house to the other. I needed to ensure that everything was level so I could have consistent flooring throughout the home without needing transition strips. Aim to keep everything level within 3/16″ in a 10′ radius. Take your time and good luck!
