Have you faced challenges when adding a gazebo close to your house for an outdoor kitchen setup with concerns about water runoff? What solutions have you found to work or not work in a similar situation?
Hey there! So, last year I was asking around about how to level this area, and now I’m getting ready to tackle it as my spring project. I’m planning on laying a paver patio and adding a gazebo like the one on the left in the picture. My only worry is having it too close to the house and dealing with water run-off from rain. Has anyone else had this issue? I was thinking of setting up a DIY gutter system to redirect the water to the front yard. Also, I’m considering a gazebo with a higher end, but I’m not sure if it will look weird facing towards the house. The gazebo is going to be my outdoor kitchen space for grilling and smoking, so I’ll be moving my smoker, flat top, and pizza oven over there on a Keter table. Has anyone else tried something similar? Any tips on what worked well and what didn’t?
If you’re installing a paver patio, it’s important to excavate a base before laying the pavers. You might also need a retaining wall or a step up on the left side near the hot tub, as well as a slight slope away from the house. Have you considered adding a step down from the deck to a lower deck?
Seems like that deck is on its last leg, so I would start planning ahead…
I suggest constructing an angled pergola with polycarbonate roof panels, although it might require some skill to pull off. It could end up costing the same as those $2k steel ones, but it would look better, match your house, fit the space, and direct water away. I actually completed a similar project for a client 2 years ago.

The handyman recommended getting rid of the rust using a dremel brush, bondo, and two-part epoxy bathtub paint. Knowing how to work with surfboard resin and fiberglass cloth could be more beneficial. After all, fiberglass bathtubs are made using these materials.
