Have you ever taken on a DIY project like sealcoating your driveway, and if so, what was your experience like with the cleaning, patching, and overall process?

So, I spent this past weekend working on a little project – my driveway. It was actually my first time attempting something like this. My driveway has been begging for sealcoating for way too long, but after getting some quotes that were either too high or didn’t include necessary repairs, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Turns out, the key to success was all in the prep work. Patching up the cracks and holes was a breeze compared to the cleaning and prepping part. I still have a few spots that need some more trowel patch, but once those are smoothed out and cured, I am excited to get that sealcoat on and have my driveway looking brand new!
I recently sealed my driveway for the first time in a long time. I realized that DIY is not the way to go. It requires more sealer than you think, especially if it’s been neglected. It can soak in quickly like a sponge. Plus, the sealer can cause skin burns. Professional-grade hot sealer seems to give a better result.
